Still Life

Thirty-five years ago Dallas—and the country—was gripped by the tragic story of John McClamrock, a high school football player paralyzed during a violent tackle. But after the newspapers moved on, another story was quietly unfolding, one of courage, perseverance, and a mother’s fierce love.

by Skip Hollandsworth

I received this story  from H. with a Happy Mother's Day wish.  H. would only sent me worth-reading articles, we're both terribly busy, and I must say I was a bit reluctant to open up this article to read.  So glad I did...I couldn't stop reading, and reread...the 4th time...with tears streaming down my face each time...I wanted to rush home and hold my children...and my parents...and my brothers and sisters...It moves me and makes me ponder all day...I wonder if I could be like John's mother, or like Henry, oh bless Henry!

Such a life worth living!

I asked my family to read it. :)   It's the best article I've read in a long time.  Thanks H. for thinking of me.

  2. dragonflybl: Yes, so much courage! And never lost hope or faith! I think that's a miracle! :) How they understand, accept and care for each other, despite all situations! I think they're living saints!

Some of our band members have to take care of sick parents and children. Bless them, the caregivers, and give them more strength!

My HS son was playing football last season...I was so afraid for him.. He started to read this... he came home w/ a head injury from playing lacrosse yesterday...an illegal move from the other team...knocked him out with a stick. I'm waiting to hear from physician. :(

  7. Hi all...thanks so much! He's ok...was in ER w/ him until 1am last night...all tests came out ok...CT scan normal too. :) Relieved now.

I've never been to Pediatric ER before...I actually didn't know there was another side to the ER! It's not a fun place to be with tiny little babies and kids with tubes sticking out, I was there 4 hours and listened to constant crying & screaming...Poor babies.
