Rachel is the vet at our house. She's been playing w/ stuff animals (she has no dolls, not one single barbie!) forever and ever since she just learned to walk. She sleeps w/ them. Her beanie babies animals would be neatly sleeping in shoeboxes, recovering from some sickness or accident. :)
She's been begging for a real animal, like a horse, so we got a dog instead. (At first it was going to be a pug, but we couldn't stare at that pug in the eyes, so we got a German Shepherd instead.) A smart dog this shepherd is. The kids took care of this puppy for a while, now they fight over which one of them has to take care of the dog. Poor doggie. Now the adults take care of the dog.
Ever since Rachel's been in Ms. Foster's class, she saw these cute rats and fell in love w/ them. I'm not one to like rats, I picture the ones that scurried around in the backyard in Vietnam, those things were as huge as a cat! Then I thought of that song Ben ("the two of us need look no more...", about the lonely boy who befriended w/ all these rats... ) Oh my! But from Rachel's descriptions, Ms. Foster's rats are cute, smart and you can even potty train them.
We cringe over the thoughts of having rats in the house but we asked Rachel to do some research, including talking to Ms. Foster to get more information. Last week, we gave in and got her Rex and Cookie, 2 Dumbo fancy rats. They have big ears. Really adorable!
"You be the one cleaning after them Rachel, I'm not going to clean after some rats!" - Rachel's Dad said. Haha
Thank you Ms. Foster for teaching & working w/ Rachel!! :) :)
